| LINGK. What was the original objective of Christian TV, and how has it evolved? PAUL. When my parents started Trinity Broadcasting Network back in 1973, their vision was to develop a vehicle to broadcast programming that would share the gospel with the world at large, as well as programs that would inspire and challenge believers. Over the last 30 years weve stayed true to that vision, so that today TBN broadcasts 24 hours of commercial-free inspirational programming to a wide range of audiences. Our various networks reach every major continent through 54 satellites and more than 12,000 television and cable affiliates worldwide. In the U.S. alone, TBN is available to 92 percent of the total households. In addition to our flagship TBN network, we also operate a number of other Christian and family friendly networks, including the Church Channel, our JCTV youth network, TBN Enlace USA Spanish network, and Smile of a Child, our worldwide childrens network LINGK. What role if any does TBN play in addressing socio-political issues such as the war, global warming, and world hunger? We have some significant issues-based programs that deal with social and political issues, but always from a faith perspective. One of the most popular is Primary Focus, which is a cutting-edge television news magazine that addresses contemporary issues in the news and on the minds of people. We also frequently have guests on our Praise the Lord program who address important issues. The key is that we keep our focus on the goal of providing programming that is relevant to peoples faith.
