Lingk2us: So I heard you mentioned that you were a PK?

Cedric: Oh, yes I'm a PK (laughing). My mother has been an evangelist for almost 30 years.

Lingk2us: Did she give you any good advice or pointers?

Cedric: Not in this instance. As far as the acting and movie stuff, she's mostly my supporter. But I'm telling you that we certainly prayed! And she prayed
and fasted before this role—so she played a big part in that.

Lingk2us:Did you get an opportunity to meet Dr. Charles?

Cedric: Yes I did! At the CineQuest festival, which is in San Jose CA. close to
where he lives. He came out to the screening, and afterwards, we had dinner
and talked about the film. He is such a gentle kind man. I really liked him a lot.

Lingk2us: How did he feel about the film and about how he
was portrayed?

Cedric: He really liked the film. He especially enjoyed the scenes between Richard and Samuel, because this is what the movie was birth out of—his relationship with an elderly janitor who lived on the campus of his seminary.
He told me how much this meant to him and how these scenes reminded
him of that.

Lingk2us: Great film!

Cedric: Wow, thank you!

Lingk2us: It must have been quite exciting to be part of such a
special project.

Cedric: Yea, It was such a trill to work with veterans like, William Devine,
Lauren Holly and especially Mr. Louis Gossett Jr.--It was just phenomenal!

Lingk2us: What attracted you to the role?

Cedric: Well, First off, I was attracted to the role immediately. I thought it
was powerful! Which is the type of role I look for. On a more personal level, It
was also very close to my heart—because of growing up with a mother who
was a preacher, and the things I dealt with in coming into my own—which
spoke to me on so many different levels.

Lingk2us: How did you prepare for it?

Cedric: I really spend some time reading the script. Probably about 3 times before goin in (to the audition), which was to my advantage. Usually, because
of time constraints, we don't get to read the script before hand.

But in this case I had two nights. So, in reading it, I tried to put my self in the
place of this young man, and just imagined what it would be like to go through
trails like these, which is something that I haven't personally gone through
but I did the best I could with it.
